Are you guys clicking without my egging you on? Excellent! Step it up! Don’t forget to nag everyone you know!
So, what else is happening? It’s been a real “lay-low” kind of week around the ol’ Flamingo Pond. I’m sure I should be doing something constructive, like finishing the game board for the late wedding present… testing out some Tamil Nadu / South Indian recipes for the big presentation dinner — I think we’ll be up to 12 for the dinner. That’ll be good, though, so nearly half of the guests will have been at the actual wedding – okay, including the bride and groom. Menu suggestions from any of you who may be from the region – or in the know – will be welcome! Festive, appropriate for an anniversary dinner, and fairly simple, please!
But I’m not doing any of that. We’re talking about joining Miz Shoes and the RLA for a couple of days in Sarasota, but I haven’t nailed down the room yet. Tomorrow.
Signs that we’re near the end – of the nightmare that is this Bush’s presidency, that is: The Supreme Court actually put another nail in the coffin of the neo-Fascists who have been attempting to dismantle the Constitution over the last 8 years. They actually – gasp! – said that the prisoners in Guantanamo are entitled to to their day in court! Or at least to find out why some of them are being detained. Maybe they’ll finally shut down that cesspool known as Guantanamo.
Great! I have no idea what font I’ve been using. Or font size, for that matter. Oh cool! It all looks the same in final. Don’t ask.
The cardinals have been bringing their kids around! How cute! Well, not really. Juvenile cardinals are not the prettiest birds around. They haven’t quite grown into their black, beady eyes yet. And they’re all gray, so you can’t tell if you’re looking at a male or female for several weeks, until the male starts coloring up and the female gets a little blush in her wing and tail feathers. Sort of like this:
Not very pretty, eh? But I love it! I know that in a few more weeks, he’s going to be brilliant red with a bright orange beak and rich black accents. Probably one of the more common State Birds in the U.S., but always a thrill to me when they come to my yard. In case you’re wondering, he’s munching on a stalk of millet that’s sprouted up from some of the seed scattered by some of the messier birds. It may be 90 degrees outside, but the parent birds bringing around the youngsters always makes June a little more bearable.
