Washout!

July 6, 2008

Well, that was a disappointment! RX’s party was bigger and better than ever, but dull, dull, dull, dull. The trash side of the family decided not to come, this year, so we wound up leaving just as early. No after-party reports yet.

They blocked off the street, had lots of places to sit (as long as you didn’t mind getting a little wet from the kids playing with the water balloons), plenty of food, etc. Okay, I personally could have done without the karaoke. Nobody keeled over from bad mayo or anything. Geez. How do you get that many people together and have nothing interesting happen?

So, we went home and thought about maybe going over to the nearby park for their fireworks. And then it started to rain. And a good 45 minutes before scheduled, we hear BOOM! BOOM! and John Philip Sousa music. They must have gotten a weather report saying it was going to get worse, and set off their fireworks early. If it weren’t for the trees, we would have gotten quite the show.

So, it was the sofa, Klondike bars, and the Boston Pops on TV. As MJ likes to say: It could have been worse, it could be raining. Oh, yeah. It was. Next year, Boston?
