This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Wheat Food Council. All opinions are 100% mine.
You might not have noticed, but I’ve been doing a little baking, lately, and so have many of my friends. Cookies, brownies, bread – we’re going through a lot of flour to bake the treats that make this time of year so special. But have you ever wondered about the process?
The Wheat Foods Council has created a multi-media, interactive web experience called How Wheat Works, a “farm-to-fork” experience, that takes you (and your kids) through the entire process. Beginning with virtually planting seed all the way through virtually eating the food you choose, you learn about how wheat is grown, harvested, milled, and gets to your table. The process is divided into four sections. Each section takes just a few minutes, then you’ll get an e-mail the next day, prompting you to come back and complete the next section, over the course of four days.
You and your kids will not only get an appreciation of how wheat grows and winds up in the products most of us eat everyday, but you’ll have the opportunity to do some good, as well. For every participant who completes the four-part experience, the Wheat Foods Council will donate two pounds of flour – up to 90,000 pounds – to Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to needy U.S. troops and their families.
There’s also tons of information, recipes and resources, as well as a special section just for kids to get involved.
I really do urge you to visit, participate in, and complete the How Wheat Works experience, and help give back to those who give it up for us.
