This isn’t a subject I would normally find myself writing about. And let me start out by saying that MJ and I have been happily married for almost 20 years. I can’t even imagine how tough it would be “out there” these days. It was hard enough back in the day. I still have vivid memories of bad blind dates and, oh yeah, the time my mother met a matchmaker and signed me up without telling me. I remember the feeling of coming home after a miserable evening and thinking: “Well, that’s three hours of my life I’ll never get back.”
I’ve said for years now that if, God forbid, anything ever happened to MJ, I would be perfectly content to settle for the companionship of friends and my cats. Bar scenes? No. Pathetic singles’ socials? No. Where would I meet someone if I were “in the market”? I’m suspicious of all these singles’ websites that have popped up over the last few years. Where’s the security?
I ran across a site through SocialSpark called TRUE.com. I checked it out for fun and I have to say I was impressed. First, you can sign up for free and you can search for free. But more importantly in my mind, they check you out. They don’t just take your word for it that you’re single and not a felon. They check. They not only give you tips on staying safe, they even have a security expert on hand to answer any questions you might have. Knowing that your safety and security are such a priority with TRUE, has got to make meeting new people a more relaxing and fun experience.
So even though I’m not personally in the market, I’d recommend TRUE.com to anyone who might be, but is a little skittish about the great unknown. You can sign up for free and you can search for free. You never know, right?
