The 1980’s were fertile ground for movies starring and about teenagers. Who can forget Tom Cruise in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? The Breakfast Club? And of course, WarGames with a young, adorable Matthew Broderick?
I loved WarGames – a teenage slacker/hacker gains entry to a NORAD simulation computer and inadvertently sparks a potential war with the demon of the decade, the USSR. “Would you like to play a game?” “Sure. How about Global Thermonuclear War?”
Do you realize it’s been 25 years? Well, get this: They’re bringing it back – for one night only on July 24th in select theaters. It will include interviews with the film’s creators and members of the cast, such as Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy (whatever happened to her, anyway?). And – only at this one night event, you’ll get a sneak peek at the making of the sequel – WarGames: The Dead Code.
WarGames: The Dead Code is about the demon of this decade – terrorism. Let’s see if it’s as good as the original. They’ve had 25 years to work on it. Might be fun! Check it out:
