This is a “Bits ‘n Pieces Day” – some odds and ends that probably aren’t worth a separate posting, in and of themselves, but worth mentioning for whatever reason, nonetheless.
1 — I am seriously waiting for this cycle of bad news and disasters to pass. I know it will – it must eventually. Maybe it will end with the speeding ticket I got on Saturday morning. The first ticket I’ve had in probably 25 – 30 years. Seriously. I have no idea what to do about it, or why it’s even justified, except that maybe the City of South Miami needs to bump up its coffers, seeing as it’s going to be losing a bunch of revenue in all the tax cuts and reshuffling. Maybe I’ll talk about it when the shock passes. I’ll tell you what, though. I am seriously pissed that I missed Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s Spring Plant Sale because of this. Arrrggghhh!
2 — I’m not sure how he found it, but MJ just sent me the URL to a blog about – of all things – recent(!) developments in Roman Archaeology. It’s fascinating! It really is! The woman who writes it is Director of Information Technology at the College of Education at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Little bite-sized nuggets of the latest findings and theories. I’ve added a link to “Roman Archaeology” over there to the right. You should check it out.
3 — Don’t forget your Daily Click! I probably should mention it from time to time. Look over to the right. You’ll see a link titled “Daily Click”. If you click on that link, it will take you to a legitimate website set up to benefit a number of very good causes. Each tab at the top of the page will take you to an area benefitting each cause. All you have to do is click in the area that says “Click Here” and you will have arranged a donation to that cause. AT NO COST TO YOU! No kidding! It doesn’t cost you a penny. Everytime you click, the advertisers on that page donate to the cause, in return for the advertising. There’s a tab benefitting animal shelters, rainforest conservation, free mammograms for indigent women, children’s literacy, feeding the hungry… You can click once a day in each area. Isn’t that awesome? Oh, and you can shop! Hey, graduations and Mother’s Day are right around the corner, and there are some great gift ideas there. And, portions of each sale are donated to the causes, too! How do you beat that?
